Spreadsheets are fine until follow-ups start slipping. Here is how to tell it is time for a CRM — and what to set up first.
The warning signs
Leads live in more than one place. Nobody is sure who replied to whom. Follow-ups depend on someone remembering. If that sounds familiar, the spreadsheet has become the bottleneck.
Set up the pipeline first
Before automations, define the stages a customer moves through — enquiry, contacted, proposal, won or lost — and who owns each one.
Once the stages are clear, automation becomes simple: when a lead enters a stage, something useful happens.
